Shanghai shopping malls

Shanghai is followed by other Chinese cities: Chengdu (3.2 million square meters), Shenzhen (2.7 million) and Tianjin (2.5 million). Other cities in the top 10 are Istanbul, Wuhan, Moscow, Beijing, Nanjing and Guangzhou.
According to CBRE, in Europe are the Russian and Turkish cities that continue to dominate construction projects. In Istanbul, 27 centers are under construction for 1.9 million square meters of surface area. Moscow can exhibit 1.5 million square feet, but many projects also concern other Russian cities, such as St. Petersburg and Novosibirsk.
In Southeast Asia, Kuala Lumpur accounts for 40% of the 3.3 million square meters under construction in this area of the globe. In the Middle East, Abu Dhabi is strengthening its position as a regional leader with three shopping malls for a total of 168,000 square meters, completed in 2013, and eight other centers, for a total of 778,000 square meters currently under construction.

In Europe, according to study data, the 35 new outlets opened in 2013, 26 were in Eastern Europe, four in Central Europe and five in Europe in the West. While pointing to the latter market at a low level, at the historical minimums, CBRE still finds plans to expand shopping malls in order to respond to a request for development-looking brands.
